Sharing your faith in a connected world
Our lives are increasingly being lived online, and the call to be missional as Christ followers now extends beyond our physical spheres into the digital communities we inhabit.
When Jesus commissioned us to go and make disciples of all nations in Matthew 28, followers were limited by physical travel, and financial means. Now we can influence and freely travel digitally worldwide, so what does it look like to share your faith online?
Being missional means intentionally living out the Gospel and seeking to share it with others. The digital space is saturated with Christian content and reposted Bible verses. Those who engage online are looking for authentic, real-life content that hasn’t been airbrushed, edited, or over scripted, and crucially, they are seeking connection.
Our digital presence should align with our faith. Reflecting the Gospel online through our interactions and content is how we can share our faith consistently and authentically.
Here are a few practical ways to get started-
Practicing kindness and encouragement—social media can be a harsh place, but it is also where you can be the light you are called to be. Responding with grace rather than hostility can set you apart.
Sharing hope and truth: You can point people toward Christ through personal stories about your week. Everyday situations that others can relate to will create a connection and curiosity.
Stay invested in people – Just like you would in person if someone asked you a question or engaged you in conversation, follow up with people online. You are not a product online you are a person, they are connecting with you, so stay invested in their curiosity.
Don’t seek to build influence; steward the influence you have now by signposting people to Jesus through your online life.
Cheering you on all the way
