If someone found you on social, would they know you are a Christian?

You do not need to become a faith influencer to share your faith on your social media.

In fact that has the potential to not be evangelistic. If all you are posting are verses of scripture or how-to videos on studying your Bible, and prayer, those that follow you will change to like-minded individuals who are encouraged by your content.

Instead, if your heart is to reach those who don’t yet know Jesus. Sharing about your faith on social media can be a powerful tool.

In the midst of photos about your week, can someone see you also attended church?

Bio lines about who you are, Is there a hint you have a faith or where you worship?

Is your life reflecting a lifestyle that others would view as similar but somewhat different?

You can show how accessible it is to believe in Jesus, that you aren’t crazy, and those who follow you can have faith too because you’re normal.

But can I encourage you to do one thing-

If your heart is to reach those who don’t yet know Jesus, and you are keen for your social media to play a part in that. Make sure there is a clear invitation to connect.

I have heard story after story of those who have received messages from old friends who have directly messaged them because they knew they were Christians (because of their social content) and have been asked questions like “Where do you go to church? Can I come with you?” And for every brave person, there is a whole crowd of others who didn’t hit send on that message.

You can simply create a pathway to connect with your community by adding their website to your ‘about me’ section or your church’s social handle in your bio. Sounds incredibly easy, but start there and create an introduction to a local church. People rarely walk through the doors of churches without knowing someone first.

Be the person someone knows and utilise your social media as a way to connect them.

One more thing-

If you would like to go one step further, many social media platforms allow you to feature or pin a post which shows up as the first thing people see on your account. You can utilise this function to do a ‘about me’ post and share your story. It doesn’t matter if you have 50 or 5000 followers this is a tool available for everyone to use, and a great way to share your testimony.

Focus on why you have faith when you share on your social, instead of how to practice faith.

If you are unsure about what to say, take a look at a previous article I have written called ‘How to craft your story’.

Cheering you on all the way
